Use L2 + Options on PlayStation-style labels or LT + Menu on Xbox-style labels for the menu shortcut. The supplied code detects specified Xbox controller types for Xbox wording. An adapter or unusual controller can affect reported type, so record the actual displayed labels.
Separate navigation from gameplay
Left/right changes the main page and up/down changes the current option. A button that does not reach the game while the menu is open can be deliberately blocked. Close the menu before testing the normal shot, pass, or D-pad behavior.
